About the event
Love the uplifting strains of the cello and the peaceful atmosphere of an old chapel? As part of the Fringe Mount Gambier program for 2024, Limestone Coast cello duo Circa 300 will perform at the old Suttontown Chapel.
Playing on instruments with a combined age of over 300 years, accomplished cellists Tamara Joukoff and Chris Majoros have selected a programme of pieces that will meld with the superb acoustics of the chapel. With music by Dotzauer, Boccherini, Mozart and more, expect arrangements of well-known opera arias, hushed, introspective pieces, cheerful sonatas and the occasional energetic hornpipe thrown in for good measure - All with an 1800s twist!
Built in 1868, the Suttontown Chapel in Mount Gambier is home to The Pinko Collective; community arts collaborators, Trudy Tandberg and Monica Hart. This charming inaugural event will lay an 1800s vibe back into the historic walls of the Suttontown Chapel; an enticing new arts venue in Mount Gambier.
